Jadeite
I’ve been obsessing over jadeite kitchenware for years and have always wanted to collect them. But here’s the thing, collect meaning I have to stumble upon them while I’m at a garage or estate sale where the price is so low I have no choice other than to take out my change to purchase it. So a few years later all I have is one plate. Not much of a collection, huh? But, honestly when I’m at an antique store the frugal me just doesn’t want to pay $80 for a teensy bowl. Some jadeite kitchenware have been known to sell for thousands. Hard to believe that in the 30s and 40s jadeite was so common they were sold at five and dime stores and at one point were given away for free with cleaning products.
I’d love a display of jadeite in my kitchen so I am tempted to cheat and purchase reproductions like the ones pictured above. Just as cute but not nearly as costly as the antiques. Do you have jadeite hidden in your cupboards? Best check your mother or grandmother’s kitchen for this great find.

Love Jadeite. Pretty pics!
I like jadeite too, I love the “nubby” milkglass as well. I’m with you though, it can get awfully pricey at antique stores.
Wow I love these! No wonder you’re in love with them. I would start collecting these too, stunning!
Why is it that antique stores really know how to rip you off?! I feel like I’ve seen plenty of these throughout my life but yeah, when you want to start a collection it never fails that you won’t be able to find any!
I can’t tell you how many pieces I’ve probably come across at garage sales/estate sales – why didn’t I buy them??! They’re so beautiful grouped together. No wonder you want to collect them
Why do I feel like I’ve seen those in every antiques store I’ve been to around here. I sure the larger pieces – like a cake stand – are extremely rare. If you’re in the northeast, I bet you could find a starter piece or two next May at Brimfield.
Piper, now you’ve done it. Now you probably won’t see them at garage sales as often. LOL.
oooh…is brimfield a ginormous antique/tag sale?? I’m intrigued…
oh how i would love to have a cake platter like these!! i’d be happy with any color!
You would be amazed what you can find at the more remote antique stores with better prices. You might be able to find these bad boys at better prices out in the country–if you were feeling adventurous.
oh the color is beautiful. cannot believe they were ever that available. just goes to show how much we should covet the every day wares. i’ll need to keep an eye out; even for some random chance. they would make a great collection.
I would purchase the reproductions–they’re gorgeous!
Oh they are so beautiful. I’m swooning over that juicer above. Love love.
I love their milky green color, so beautiful!! I say get the reproductions. The point is to surround yourself with beautiful objects you love, whether they are antique, repro, or five and dime couldn’t matter less. It isn’t cheating unless you purposefully mislead people into thinking that they are actually antique, although I can’t imagine someone possibly ever asking. Fill your kitchen with that gorgeous hue and enjoy!!
Hey! We went to Butlers Farm. They have their 30th Annual Pumpkin Festival through through the end of October. You should check it out! Its a great family fun-filled day!
The reproductions look lovely. I would love to have one as a cake platter.
I have to say, the ones in the first picture are beautiful. So simple and timeless, plus I love the colour. Have a great day, Love from London x
If I started collecting such pretty dishes, I would have to redo my kitchen so it would be worthy enough to display them. They really are nice.
definitely love it! such a cool, creamy, soothing look
these are beautiful! love the color.

Oh I love it!
Thank you for stopping by and for the comment.
I’m with you. I love Jadite, but can’t afford it. The look-a-likes might be a good solution until you can score the real thing thrifting
I had no idea that jadelite used to be giveaway items. I guess if you hold onto to things long enough they become valuable. Even the reproduction pieces would be beautiful displayed in your home. As long as you love it, that’s all that matters.
I love jadeite, too! But then I love pretty much most of anything green. =)
Gorgeous pieces! I wish I owned some jadeite! I agree- the flea markets & thrift stores can sometime be a rip off! $80 is just too much for a little bowl…no matter how cute!
I’m not an antiques collector, but IMHO the reproductions look gorgeous! Love the color and the design style.
