Rustic Tables

I’m obsessing over rustic dining tables lately because Thanksgiving is coming up and when I think of family gatherings they come to mind and the mountains of food that will top it, of course. Rustic dining tables instantly add coziness to your kitchen. They’re also very versatile and compliment so many different styles. If you’re looking to add a new dining table to your home for the holidays this is a great option.

This is my  rustic table. It was a new pine table with painted white legs.  I stripped the paint off the legs by using a chemical stripper. I wanted to have some of the white peeking through so I sanded the legs lightly. Once that’s done you can stain the wood.  You can find direction on how to strip paint from furniture here. And to stain wood, visit this site.

I am so in love with old farmhouse tables. SO in love. It just makes the room, don’t you think? There’s something about it that feels so warm and so much like home, even though I never had one growing up. Yours is just beautiful — I love the little remnants of the paint you stripped off. They give the table so much character.

  2. Love your table!! And you are right Thanksgiving always makes me think rustic, whereas Christmas and especially New Year’s Eve make me think glamour. I wonder why that is, but it is a nice way to enjoy both styles!

I am such a big huge fan of rustic dining tables and coffeetables and benches and all that jazz. In fact, when the hubs and I move into a house (soon!) our first project is going to be making a coffee table out of stained 2×4′s. I can’t wait!

  5. Love the rustic look. I need a bigger house to get me one of those tables. Great job on yours. And love the photo of the fam!

Your table looks awesome! You did a great job. I’m on the hunt for a white desk, but now you’ve put the thought in my head to either strip a white desk like your table or whitewash it!
