Hope you all had a wonderful Halloween. I baked these severed finger cookies for our neighborhood Halloween party. They’re sugar cookies with almond and cashew finger nails. You can get the recipe here. They’re very good, although I think it actually creeped a few kids out. LOL.

Now on to a real treat and prettier things. My friend Piper, of ONE SYDNEY ROAD, has opened her shop doors. I’ve been waiting and waiting for this day to come and am so happy to announce it here. Jadeite

I’ve been obsessing over jadeite kitchenware for years and have always wanted to collect them. But here’s the thing, collect meaning I have to stumble upon them while I’m at a garage or estate sale where the price is so low I have no choice other than to take out my change to purchase it. So a few years later all I have is one plate. Not much of a collection, huh? But, honestly when I’m at an antique store the frugal me just doesn’t want to pay $80 for a teensy bowl. Some jadeite kitchenware have been known to sell for thousands. Hard to believe that in the 30s and 40s jadeite was so common they were sold at five and dime stores and at one point were given away for free with cleaning products.

I’d love a display of jadeite in my kitchen so I am tempted to cheat and purchase reproductions like the ones pictured above. Just as cute but not nearly as costly as the antiques. Do you have jadeite hidden in your cupboards? Best check your mother or grandmother’s kitchen for this great find.

Loving These Chairs!

I have a thing for beautifully crafted chairs. Doesn’t matter what era. If it’s got style, I’m smitten. So as you can imagine, it was love at first sight when I came across these George Nakashima grass chairs. At $4800 for 2, I doubt they’ll be in my home any time soon so I’m gonna have to swoon from afar. Howz about a blog challenge? Let’s see who could find these chairs on Craigslist first! Who’s with me? Seriously, I sigh every time I look at these Dufner Heighes images, especially the last one. An eclectic look never looked so stylish. Sigh…..

I painted my house this weekend which included stairs-just the basic white. Looking at these images, I’m thinking I should have been more creative.

An Homage To Spring Showers

I found some really adorable cloud and rain themed items on Etsy. I was inspired by a new blog crush, Daily Suze to look for cloud jewelry and because we had rain this week and because April showers bring May flowers. Spring rain is refreshing, cleansing, and beautiful especially when the sun peeks through. Everything always looks so crisp and clear right after the clouds give way. I am really digging the earrings by Lanyapi and the Rainy Day print.

It’s only April and I’m already thinking about summer vacation. With a few trips this year I’m thinking I need a new camera bag. I want something fun and stylish and can hold my camera, lens, and the essentials-wallet, cell phone, toys, snacks. Here are a few I’m fancying at the moment. Still haven’t made up my mind but I’m leaning towards the Jill E bag because it has outside pockets for snacks and small toys. Or maybe the Hobo? No, wait, one of the Epiphanie bags.
