Smithsonian American Museum Of Art

February 21st, 2012

Living a hop, skip and jump away from Washington DC sure has it’s perks.  One that we take full advantage of is visiting the Smithsonian National museums-all of them.  The kids seem to enjoy them all and I love that all Smithsonian Museums are free.  Yes, these museums are for everyone to enjoy.   One of my favorite museums is the National American Museum of Art and I heart it  for a few reasons.  Aside from the fact that they house such beautiful and inclusive American Art,  there’s also the gorgeous, enclosed  Kogod Courtyard where you can either lunch at the Cafe or bring your own pic-nic.  I brought my parents here during one of their visits and there was a full-on Salsa dancing show and class afterwards.  My Dad happily partook in the lessons while the kids played in the water scrims.  I didn’t think to take any photos of the courtyard during our recent visit, but please visit this page to see photos of it.  What I did take photos of were our favorite sculptures.  As with most of my photos, I did not use a flash.  You can capture beautiful, bright, museum photos without the use of flash if your camera is capable and if you know how to use your manual settings.

Although it’s called “Driftwood Horse” it’s actually made of Bronze.

This is actually pretty amazing. All the monitors within each state was showing a program associated with that state.  California was showing a documentary on California and for Hawaii, Elvis Presley’s Blue Hawaii.

This sculpture was so lifelike! Even up close, she looked real.

Oh Christmas Tree…

December 20th, 2011

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season.  We got into the Christmas sprit early this year and chopped down our Christmas tree during Thanksgiving weekend.  I’m so glad we did. The weather couldn’t have been nicer – it was 60 degrees and we could have walked around in our t-shirts. I thought that getting a head start on the tree would give me a leg up on shopping but I’m far from completing my list. I also still need to prepare for our Christmas dinner.I’m tackling prime rib.  Anyone have any suggestions on sides? I’m staying away from green bean casserole and want to try something different.

Not sure what these are but my niece was collecting them in piles and they're kinda pretty. Dontcha think?

I have lots of favorite shoots because they’re all so fun and I love what I do.  But nothing tops photographs I take of my family. Particularly, those for my Sister and Brother-In-Law’s wine, NoveRoma. You must visit their website/blog to see how these two former city dwellers from San Francisco and their growing family are going to fare on a farm, produce their delicious wine and live mostly off their land. They’ve over hauled their lifestyle all in the name of living well.  They just bought chicks! I can’t wait to taste fresh eggs next time I visit. I’m trying to get them to purchase miniature ponies because they’re so dang cute and 2-because they’re so dang cute!  Now back to the wine. NoveRoma will be sponsoring the Page Turner Third Annual Asian American Literary Festival Kick Off Gala Dinner  honoring Jessica Hagedorn at the Maharlika Filipino Moderno restaurant in NYC later this month.

Anyhoo-check them out and give them a big blog welcome!

California Landscapes

August 3rd, 2011

I’ve been away having fun with my Lovies and visiting with family in California. Most of you already know that being with my family in California makes “my cup runneth over”.  Being with them in beautiful places is just icing on a delectable piece of cake.  This year we explored the beautiful coast north of San Francisco.  From the beaches (too cold to swim in) to abandoned dairy farms, this area is just breathtaking and I never tire of its rich scenery.  I was in photography heaven!

Busy Bee

April 18th, 2011

Yep, that’s what I’ve been- a busy bee.  I’ve been working with Distinct Concepts and Martin Lourd Philippe Photography on a Bridal Showcase which took place this weekend.  We featured our photography and design work.  It was quite a bit of work to get everything together.  We met lots of nice people and very talented vendors.  Although we weren’t able to take photos of the entire event, our neighbor, Gourmet Cookies By Christine, allowed me to take a few photos of her gorgeous cookies.  Oh, and they were delicious too!  What did you do this weekend?

Spring Treat

March 21st, 2011

New German Chocolate

Raspberry Buttercream

What’s better than cupcakes to top off a nice spring stroll?  Cupcakes from Cake Love, of course. The cake has just the right amount of sweetness, not overpowering that decadent buttercream frosting goodness. Let me tell ya- it just melts in your mouth. Pair with a nice cold glass of milk for a blissful combination.

Sizzlin’

March 16th, 2011

Warning. Do not scroll further if you are offended by the female form  ;)

Now that that’s out of the way I just wanted to share my latest photoshoot. Sizzlin is how I would describe it. Mz. K and Mz. T were smokin! Not only that, they were lovely and so much fun. We had lots of laughs and silliness which certainly helps in creating a comfortable atmosphere. Thanks ladies! Here’s a sneak peak. For more photos of this shoot click here.

Aside from single boudoir sessions, I’m now offering a couple of new collections; the Bridal Boudoir and Boudoir Bachelorette Bash.  Definitely more memorable that hitting up a bar with your girls!

Heart’s Delight Kick-Off

March 1st, 2011

I’m working with Distinct Concepts on a few projects, one of them is covering the American Heart Association’s 2011 Heart’s Delight Wine Tasting and Auction events.

The Hearts Delight event kick off  took place a couple week ago and boasted some big names-former senator and minority leader, Honorable Trent Lott and  Honorable Brough- to name a few. Here are a few photos I took. For a slideshow click here. The photos on the slide show were taken by yours truly and the very talented Martin Lourd Philippe.

So much cuteness in one place! { Northern Va. Pet Photographer}

February 11th, 2011

My friends, have ever been surrounded by so much cuteness that every single word you uttered was “awwww”? Besides seeing a newborn bundle of joy, dogs ranks up there in aww factor. I was just amazed that all the dogs at the Tail-waggin Tailgate Party hosted by The Happy Woof were so well behaved. I swear you’d think Cesar Milan was there doing his jedi mind tricks on them. All in all it was a good day. For a view of a few final shots from the pet portraits, click here.

Photojojo

February 2nd, 2011

Ok- I am completely obsessed with Photojojo’s store. They have some really fun and unique photography products. Take a gander at a few of my faves. If I could fit all their products in my little ol’ blog I would. Fun, right? Now on a serious note- I’m wishing all of you affected in the blizzard well. I hope you’re warm and enjoying a little down time. And to all my Aussie friends in Queensland and those affected areas in the path of hurricane Yasi-be safe! I’m thinking of you and am wishing for the best.
