I’m obsessing over rustic dining tables lately because Thanksgiving is coming up and when I think of family gatherings they come to mind and the mountains of food that will top it, of course. Rustic dining tables instantly add coziness to your kitchen. They’re also very versatile and compliment so many different styles. If you’re looking to add a new dining table to your home for the holidays this is a great option.
This is my rustic table. It was a new pine table with painted white legs. I stripped the paint off the legs by using a chemical stripper. I wanted to have some of the white peeking through so I sanded the legs lightly. Once that’s done you can stain the wood. You can find direction on how to strip paint from furniture here. And to stain wood, visit this site.

Hope you all had a wonderful Halloween. I baked these severed finger cookies for our neighborhood Halloween party. They’re sugar cookies with almond and cashew finger nails. You can get the recipe here. They’re very good, although I think it actually creeped a few kids out. LOL.

Yes, the letter N as in Baby Boy N and Baby Girl N. I had the opportunity to take photos of these lovelies. Too much cuteness and gorgeousness in one photo shoot makes ones’ heart melt. Seriously, I squealed after each click. New things going on at Small Burst and my photography exploration. Will have to share the details with you all SOON. Meanwhile, enjoy the adorableness. That even a word?

I’ve been obsessing over jadeite kitchenware for years and have always wanted to collect them. But here’s the thing, collect meaning I have to stumble upon them while I’m at a garage or estate sale where the price is so low I have no choice other than to take out my change to purchase it. So a few years later all I have is one plate. Not much of a collection, huh? But, honestly when I’m at an antique store the frugal me just doesn’t want to pay $80 for a teensy bowl. Some jadeite kitchenware have been known to sell for thousands. Hard to believe that in the 30s and 40s jadeite was so common they were sold at five and dime stores and at one point were given away for free with cleaning products.
I’d love a display of jadeite in my kitchen so I am tempted to cheat and purchase reproductions like the ones pictured above. Just as cute but not nearly as costly as the antiques. Do you have jadeite hidden in your cupboards? Best check your mother or grandmother’s kitchen for this great find.
